Beautiful words stir my heart. I will recite a lovely poem about the king, for my tongue is like the pen of a skillful poet.
A mother has been praying for many years for a house. One day, God blessed her son though not too much they have fund to buy a house. They didn’t have too much option just because they only had a little fund for down payment and fit with their ability to pay the installment every month.
The Mother said, “Doesn’t matter where and what it looks like, the most important thing is we have our own house and no need to move from one to another rented house.”
After take a look at some location they chose a little pretty house in the middle-class housing. Though located quite far away from the downtown, it was the best house and the best neighborhood they could get with their ability. The mother accepted it with the tears of joy and gratitude to God who had answered her prayer. After decades should rent a house, to have their own house is like a dream come true.
Several months passed, the euphoria has a new home slowly began to recede.
The mother began to complain to her son:
” I think the white tiled floors are easily soiled, right? …”
“The neighborhood is very quiet, especially if the evenings.”
“There is rarely a food seller passes in front of the house, unlike anywhere we used to be.”
Almost a year later, the mother was already familiar with the situation. The sense of awe to have own house has completely faded. The attention is now focused on the various shortcomings that initially not become a problem to her.
She said to her son, “This house is too far from down town, I have to spend an hour on the way to there. “
Day by day there are always simple things that she complained, just like when he lived in rented houses were actually not bad. He forgot that her house today is God’s answer of her prayer for many years.
That’s what happened. When the peak of thanksgiving for something has passed and the feeling getting back to normal, then what was originally accepted as a miracle and the grateful blessing gradually regarded as normal. At the same time, emerging things perceived as flaws.
“This is actually incredible, BUT if added with ……. it would be better. “
“I’m happy with what I received, BUT if … It would have been more fun.”
“Doesn’t mean I’m not being grateful, BUT in fact this part is not so good.”
Yes… Maybe all the complaints were very reasonable. Nothing is perfect in this world. If we look for shortcomings will surely find it. We will always have reason to feel dissatisfied because basically humans always want better and more comfortable. But what is the meaning of our thankfulness to God if the end we were not satisfied with what has been given by Him?!
Gratitude is thankful to God earnestly and wholeheartedly WITHOUT WORDS OF “BUT” until FOREVER.
God’s gift is always the best. The Answers of prayer from God is the perfect answer. Do not grateful but then unwittingly we denounce its shortcomings.
If today we are grateful for certain things but after some time there are things that we complain about it, then it’s the same as we said to God, “Lord, thank you, but the gift is not too good for me. Part of this is still lacking, part of it should be better. “
The Lord commands us to be thankful in everything:
In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV)
Everything is all of them, without exception. There are no exceptions in gratitude. Whether it is good thing, and that we think is not good.
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. (Colossians 3:17 NKJV)
Be careful in keeping our mouth and heart so that our saying and deeds doesn’t hurt God’s heart. Let’s earnestly trying hard so that everything that came out from us is merely thanksgiving to God’s mercy and kindness for surely God is always good for us.
Oh, give thanks to the Lord of lords! For His mercy endures forever (Psalm 136:3 NKJV)
