Beautiful Words

Beautiful words stir my heart. I will recite a lovely poem about the king, for my tongue is like the pen of a skillful poet.

LOOK AT THE MIRROR

LOOK AT THE MIRRORLook at ourselves, that’s what we did several times a day. Fix the strands of hair that fell on the forehead, arranging the collar which is already neat, check to see if there is dirt in the corner of the eye, or just glanced at the mirror that reflects our bodies. We are eager doing all of it, either to see if there are unsightly, or just to admire ourselves.

It’s important to look at the mirror in order to our physical appearance looking well in the front of the public. But it was not enough. The attractive physical appearance is only beginning to draw people’s attention. Our “Value” subsequently determines by character, attitude, and our maturity and spirituality. How the way we treat others, delivering our opinion, our reaction to everything, and many more. The perfect physical appearance was not an assurance for living our life. A spiritual maturity and character determines a lot of things. Have we noticed it all?

SPIRITUAL MIRROR

Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror  and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.(James 1:23-24 NIV)

God has provided spiritual mirror for us with a very precise dosage, which is His Word.

A few examples:

  • Choosing friends in the society: Do not make friends with a hot-tempered person,
do not associate with one easily angered, or you may learn their ways and get yourself ensnared. (Proverb:22:24-25 NIV)
  • Cautious in speech: Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.(1Peter 3:10 NIV)
  • The way to talk: A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.(Proverb 15:1 NIV)
  • How to treat others: So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.(Matthew 7:12 NIV)
  • Being professional in the work: Do you see someone skilled in their work? They will serve before kings; they will not serve before officials of low rank.

God’s word includes everything to actuate our life in this world as well as the life after death. The God’s word is always relevant from era to era. Things we should always do are harmonize our lives with the God’s word by means of to do it.

Same as staring at ourselves in the mirror and fix what we thing is lack or add something in order to get better performance, as well as God’s word helps us to see what is lack in us, what is inaccurate, wrong, exaggerated, and what should to be modified.

Together with the Holy Spirit, let’s we read, studying, and doing God’s word as much as we can, so we could more details to see every of our weaknesses and disadvantages, and then soon to fix it. Like a mirror that helps us to makeup ourselves correctly, The God’s word will help us so that day by day we will to be more like Christ. Amen.

Sis Sella, frankly, God alone is a mirror to look at. I remembered my mom once said, ” when we are looking at the mirror just realized that with every weaknesses, imperfections, or even advantages that we have, we have to reflecting God in us for actually we are His perfect creation and we have to shine the God’s character. ” Well reminder to always take a mirror to God so we could more like Him. Amen
