Beautiful Words

Beautiful words stir my heart. I will recite a lovely poem about the king, for my tongue is like the pen of a skillful poet.

TOUGH HEART AS A DIAMOND (Posted in bahasa “KUAT BAGAI BERLIAN”)

Tough heart as a diamondHeart is one of the most important areas in our lives. Even the first step of our Christianity journey, begins by opening the doors of our hearts for Jesus.

Once the importance of all things about heart so that God gives thousands verses and many examples of Bible figures successfulness and failures because of their heart manner.  About David, we all know that David was once fall into the murder and adultery sin when indirectly he killed Uriah then took Bathsheba as his wife. But why in Acts 13:22 God called David a man after his own heart? Because when Nathan rebuked him regarding his sins, David had a tender heart (Psalm 51). It was same with Moses. Specifically, bible wrote that Moses was a very meek and humble man more than every mankind over this world (Numbers 12:3). Conversely, which makes most of the Israelites coming out of Egypt cannot go into the land of Canaan, and even die in the desert is because they are harden their hearts against God.

This time, a young adult, Sandra Clarita, want to share what she learned and experienced with God about heart. I do believe her writing would bring us to become a tough and unshakable person to live continuously in righteousness, no matter what the condition. Please enjoy!

TOUGH HEART AS A DIAMOND

Heart as diamond

On my sweet seventeenth birthday, my beloved foster sister gave me a gift a diamond necklace. She was explaining why she gave me a diamond necklace, “Diamonds not only as a symbol of a true love and eternity, but also a symbol of strength and our perseverance. So when you go through this life you must have a heart as tough as a diamond. Life will be not so easy. There will always problems, challenges, temptations and difficulties that you have to face.”

Talk about diamond, diamond formed from pure carbon crystallized minerals as chemical processes in the bowels of the earth for hundreds to millions of years. Most natural diamonds are formed at high temperature and pressure at depths of 140 to 190 kilo meters in the Earth’s mantle. Diamonds have special physical properties. These features refer to its strength and ability to disperse light like a prism. Diamond categorized as the strongest stone gems because diamond has a very solid atomic density. And the properties of diamond are used by God to describe perseverance that has given for us to be able to face any kind of life difficulties in this world. God used diamonds as a symbol of strength and determination in the story of Ezekiel.

Ezekiel used by God to face an obstinate nation, who rebelled against God. This is obviously not an easy task. But God knows it. That is why God gave Ezekiel a heart as hard diamonds stone to enable him fulfill his very difficult duties.

“Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads. As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.” (Ezekiel 3:8-9)

I ponder something. How we need the same thing in the face day after day in these tough times. We must have the strong and tough hearts like a diamond. The Holy Bible mentions that we live under the control of evil. “We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.”  (1 John 5:19). We also live where, while evildoers and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. (2 Timothy 3:13).

In my teenage world, I found many Christian friends who easily and quickly carried away to the social intercourse which are not pleased and contrary to God’s command. They trapped in a free social intercourse in which they have been ignoring the values of Christianity. They no longer fear to God and even tend to against what commanded by God. They have been forget with God’s word that says, Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.(Proverb 4:23). They also forget that the devil always makes us as the main target so that we caught up and fall into sin. And that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will” (2 Timothy 2:26)

Devil will not remain silent to achieve his purpose by offering worldly pleasures that any time can make us fall into sin. And more frightening, we will in the difficult state to say “No” and soon or later devil destroy us.

Dear fellow, therefore we need the steadfast heart, strong as a diamond stone which will always be ready to motivate us, make us aware of the various astray and continue to live life to the glory of God. And God provides it for us. In running of this life we obviously should have a strong and tough heart like a diamonds stone because we can never be the salt and light if we have a weak heart and easily affected by the world temptations.

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41)

And for that, it is important for us to keep and maintain ourselves in a close relationship with God through prayer and obedience to His commands. Unwavering and tough heart as diamonds will enable us to do what is the best for the glory of God, even in the most difficult places or situations.  As a God’s child and as a teen, how our further live if this time we are already entangled in the valley of sin due to we do not have a steadfast heart and not able to against the world temptations ?

The choice is yours…

While I love the passion for Christ in this post, the analogy of having a heart as hard as a diamond is not biblical in describing a Christian. A hardened heart is a sign of a non-Christian. Our strength comes from the love of Christ which turns our heart of stone into a heart of flesh… Ezekiel 11:19… Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them,[a] and take the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, (NKJV)

It is the love of Christ and His power with-in us that will defeat Satan…Ephesians 3:16-20… Ephesians 3:16-19… that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, (NKJV)

    Sella!!!!
God is so so so good in how He works because today you were on my mind! I haven’t heard from you in a long while and I was wondering how you were doing. I said a quick prayer for you! I hope you are good my sister……! 🙂 and it’s really good to hear from you!
Thank you for sharing this post from Sandra. There were a lot of things to digest but the one that stands out was when she said, to be salt you must have a hard heart. We cannot be salt if we have weak hearts and are easily tempted by the world (Those were not her exact words, I just paraphrased).
    That really challenged me.
    God bless you.
